Fact: I devoted 2 solid years of my life to FF7.
I like video games. A lot. It's the best form of escapism - even moreso than Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter (nerd alert). I like RPG, FPS, and strategy games the best, but let's be honest here: they're all fucking awesome. Here are some of my favorite games ever, in order of 'most awesome creation ever' to 'marginally better than sex with twins' (if I ever sleep with twins I'll let you know):
- Final Fantasy VII Easily my favorite game ever. I know more about this game than I know about most of my friends.
- Final Fantasy VIII FF7 was a tough act to follow, but FF8 was amazing.
- Resident Evil The first of it's kind. Absolutely fucking terrifying when it came out.
- The Two Towers LPMUD I MUDded for 12 years (I still log in from time to time). t2tmud.org
- Counter-Strike: Source A handful of clans and CAL-O/CAL-M/CAL-I seasons later, I can say I've been a professional gamer.
- The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time If you don't like Zelda, you don't like RPGs. Plain and simple.
- Diablo II My first experience with MMORPGs, tanking, golding, and people selling character EQ for cash money.
- Planescape: Torment SO UNDERRATED. Along the same lines as Diablo I/II and Baldur's Gate.
- MYST One of the most groundbreaking, immersive, and challenging games of its time.
- The Journeyman: Project Turbo Also massively underrated. AWESOME old-school sci-fi puzzle game.
- World of Warcraft I mean... everyone likes WoW. Disclaimer: if you use 'lulz' in normal conversation we cannot be friends.
- Castle Adventure The very first computer game I ever played. Text-based with a prompt - basically an offline MUD.
